KEMET WAS NUBIAN: RECLAIMING THE STOLEN
LEGACY
By Fahim A. Knight-El
The European Jews were some of the first enlightened Caucasians who came out from near the borders of
The Europeans came out of the Dark Ages in the 14th Century
with a period known in world civilization called the Renaissance (translate to
mean re-birth) where Caucasians had stolen and confiscated the massive libraries and books left behind by a
defeated Moorish Army and the Spanish pushed these Nubian warriors back into North Africa and simanteously
exploited the Moorish libraries of all the ancient knowledge that was left
behind—this is what led to Europe’s re-enlightenment. This coming in contact with gamut of Moorish knowledge and various expertise further
led to European societies coming out of the Dark Ages and has led to them ruling the
world for over the last 600 years. For example, I remember as a child in
grammar school we use to sing that "in 1492 Christopher Columbus
sailed the ocean blue" (they did not teach us that Columbus was a mass murder
responsible for genocide, rape, murder, and land theft of the indigenous people--they further lied by teaching us that he discovered America when in fact the original indigenous people were here at least 16,000 years before his expeditions. Columbus could have just ventured a little further into Central America and the evidence of the Olmec heads and the pyramids of Central America, which stand in direct resembles to those ancient edifices found in Kemet, that was erected by the Nubians over 15,000 years ago and this would have give even more evidence that Africans had ventured into the Americas long before the European expeditions.
They also did not tell us that Columbus and
Spain
were using maps and voyage maritime instruments created by Nubian Moors during his
expeditions, these denials or historical negations were intentionally meant to give us a
Eurocentric perspective on civilization. So the great artists such as Leonardo
Da Vinci and Michael Angelo begin to inspire the world, but they too had access
to Moorish artistic styles and master pieces. Also, great
European thinkers such as Sir Isaac Newton, Copernicus, Rene
Descartes and later French experienced the "Age of Enlightenment'.
We know that Islam begin to spread from the Arabian
Peninsula after the death of Prophet Muhammad Ibn Abdullah (570 A.D.-632
A.D.) and it would have been through the linage of Ali Ibn Abi Talib (the
adopted son and cousin of Prophet Muhammad), which he represented the
fourth Caliphate in Islam and is considered the only true successor to
Prophet Muhammad according to the teachings of Shia Islam (Sunni Islam
disagrees with this theological perspective). However, it would be through his
linage from Hussein and Hassan that Islam begin to spread outside of
the Arabian Peninsula . Contrary to western
scholars advocating that Islam spread to Africa
and other parts of the world was based on the sword of
Prophet Muhammad (mere fabrication) and historical lies. Islam spread through
trade, commerce and of course Islamic
missionaries initially were more responsible for Islam's growth more
so than war and it would be from proselytizing Islamic missionaries
that the religion spread throughout North Africa in what is
called the Maghreb region (the only thing that separates Africa from the so-called Middle East is the man made ditch called the Suez Canal). Some scholars believe that
the geographical region of the North African nation of Morocco is
where the original Moors originated and these were considered the darker
skinned inhabitants who differed in ethnicity from the Berbers and the
Arabs and had more of an ethnic and racial kinship to the
so-called Sub-Sahara Africans who were more Nubian in ethnicity (dark skinned,
broad noses and thick lips). (Reference: Edward W. Byden; Christianity, Islam
and the Negro Race”).
Also, it is believed that the original people who inhabited
Arabia in particular, Yemen
and Oman
were people closely related to the Ethiopians and were black skinned. Now, Dr.
Wesley Muhammad in his book titled, "Black Arabia and the African Origin
of Islam" examines and explores that Arabia
was a black land prior to Semitic and Caucasian invasions which led to
racial miscegenation (the present Arabs are Johnny come lately imposters).
Also, Chancellor Williams deals with this issue in his book titled,
"Destruction of Black Civilization: Great Issues of Race from 4500 B.C. to
2000 A.D." and Drusilla Dunjee Houston in her book titled, "The
Wonderful Ethiopians of the Ancient Cushite Empires," which
verifies the expansiveness of the Nubian empires and records how Blacks/Nubians
became displaced based on lighter skinned imposters pushing them southward. If
we limited our scope of the Moors just to that little geographical region
of North Africa called Morocco than we limited the Nubian connection of the
Moors that predated the religion of Islam and one must understand that Islam was the religion and Islamic Muslims
conquered and colonized the nation of Morocco (but like Christianity, Islam to
was an occupying force in Africa). Some historians would want us to believe that it
was the Moors conversion to Islam that led to their enlightenment in
science, philosophy, maritime science, military warfare, architecture,
engineering, medicine, etc., in which the General Tarik Ibn Zaid in
the 8th Century took culture and enlightenment to Spain—Seville, Cordoba,
Barcelona, Madrid and the Moors had conquered European territories up to
the borders of southern France; Reference: "The Story of the
Moors in Spain" by Stanley Lane-Poole and IvanVan Sertima book titled,
"Golden Age of the Moor."
Moreover,Greece
and Rome would not have a foundation to stand
upon, if they had not borrowed or stolen the physical and metaphysical sciences
from Egypt
(Dr. George G.M. James reminded us of this in his book titled, "Stolen
Legacy"). The entire European continent owes a debt
of gratitude to the original people of the
earth and the legitimate contributions that Africans have made
to humanity are still overshadowed by white supremacy. White pseudo intellectuals who refer to themselves
as Egyptologist, historians, archeologist, scientist, etc., are some of the main
culprits for the continued perpetuation of scholarly racism. Thus, not only have they done black people a disservice, but all of
humanity when it comes to properly interpreting the ancient Nubian Kemetic
civilizations and the greatness of the Nile Valley Civilizations. They would
rather credit some outer space aliens as opposed to admitting that the majority
of the Kemetic dynastic periods and the culture phenomenon and the scientific
enlightenment were led and inspired by Nubians.
Moreover,
For example, the five main orders of
Western architecture prototypes (Tuscan, Ionic,
Composite, Corinthian, and Doric) that have been assigned to Greece and Rome
these schools of scientific thought only represented a small portion
of the magnificent and greatness of those Nubians who were considered the
master builders of civilization. It has been proven that these European
orders of architecture and scientific schools of thoughts were
rooted in much older civilizations such as Kemet (Egypt)—this is what they
never told us in the classroom and without Kemetic contribution to the science
of architecture then Freemasonry
and other secret societies would have a hard time existing (the science of Operative and Speculative Masonry had its origins in Egypt). I think architecture as a science that is
correlated to the theories of scales—tied to mathematical equations (which
can be counted and measured) often serves as a time indicator of
determining the relics of ancient and modern societies, which will eventually tell
us a lot about the people's culture and life styles who inhabited
particular geographical lands and territories whether it be
during the Paleolithic or Neolithic periods (no other ancient society or modern society stand in comparison to the culture greatness of Kemet). Peoples'
architecture gives us clues to answering the who, what, were when, how and why
questions, which aids scientist and social scientist in their quest to uncover
the truth relative to people's present and past existence—places and dates (this tells us a lot about the people who lived and walked this earth before us). Archeologist
and paleontologist have been the premiere CSI forerunners for centuries
using their expertise to uncover and date societies based on their findings
(although many of the Western scholars have been less objective in this area
because of racism).
I also think that scholars like Cheikh Anta
Diop, John G. Jackson, George G.M. James, Dr. Yosef Ben Jochannan
and Anthony Browder works further reminds us that African contributions
to the science of modern architecture is probably still one of the
most under studied disciplines. Western scholars refuse to accept that
those who had mastered these various building sciences were in
Kemet (Egypt) and the root causes of these denials
was because African centered scholars have maintained for decades that
Egypt was Black and Nubian and this has always gone contrary to the
Eurocentric worldview and is the foremost point of contention
The science of spirituality, mathematics, Zodiac, symbolism,
physics, astrology, metaphysics, hydraulics, civil engineering, philosophy and
establishment of the Kemetic Mystery System, which took rituals, rites,
relics and sacraments to another level have withstood the test of
time (the proof of this greatness can be seen in the Eighth Wonder of the world known as the pyramids and Ra Un Nefer Amen in the "Metu Neter" gives us a glimpse into mystical science of these metaphysical giants). And to put it quite bluntly, white supremacy has always negatively
affected western based intellectual research; with the objective
of denying Africans any worthwhile contributions to civilization, which
has always been their main priority because they believed that Africa
was the dark continent and made no worthwhile contribution to humanity. The definition
of culture has to become more expansive in its intent to define or
redefine global culture, which has transitioned beyond the concept of learned
behavior, because even I have always had more of a sociological view of
culture. But the definition must be extended to revolve
around an inclusiveness of the collective consciousness
of a people who are forever evolving along side an eternal timeline
that will always be as constant as change itself (this is rooted in the
evolutionary process of humanity as biological beings).
I maintain that where most teachers fail in the
classroom is they often do not know how to connect to the students and
keep the students interest high (this is the most challenging area along with
maintaining discipline and promoting high standards). Students today are very
smart and observant in which they can feel if a teacher or professor is just
going through the motions and lack true interest in them as human beings,
students and budding intellectuals. So the subject matter has to always be
interesting and thought provoking and delivered with the utmost passion
(the objective here is maintaining interest and promoting critical
thinking). We have to make them believe in themselves and in turn
they would go into a fire with a gasoline jacket on because they believe
that much in you as a teacher, mentor and for many a father away from
home. We as teachers have to create a high level of excitement
for learning in them.
I would always start with introducing them to the knowledge
of self and build on the importance of learning our history and culture
(students of African descent in particular have to see themselves as a subject rather than an object), as well
as linking our history to the story of civilization and world history.
There are some books that comes to my mind, John G. Jackson work
titled, "Introduction to African Civilizations" and Dr. Maulana
Karenga book titled, "Introduction to Black Studies"; Cheikh Anta
Diop books titled, "African Civilization: Myth or Reality" and his
book titled, "Civilization or Barbarism: An Authentic Anthropology";
Chancellor Williams book titled, "Destruction of Black Civilization";
Anthony Browder "Nile Valley Contribution
to Civilizations". I also like a small book written by John Henrik
Clarke titled, "Christopher Columbus and the African Holocaust" and
"Africans at the Crossroads: African World Revolution"; J.C.
deGraft-Johnson book titled, "African Glory: The Story of Vanished Negro
Civilizations"; Chinweizu book titled, "The West and the Rest of Us:
White Predators Black Slavers and the African Elite".
They have always systematically used white academia and even
black academia to support their scholarship and their unfound
racist contentions. For example, I can remember in the early 1990s when
the concept of Afrocentricism was gaining intellectual and academic momentum
and blacks were once again getting excited about their culture and
heritage and the enemy hired and put a vast amount of resources
behind the Wellesley College Professor Dr. Mary Lefkowitz to so-called write the antithesis to
"Afrocentricity", which was popularized by Dr. Molefi Asante. She authored
a book titled, "Not Out of Africa: How "Afrocentrism"
Became An Excuse To Teach Myth As History” (she had one mission an all out
assault to discredited and disprove Africa 's
contributions to world civilization). Her quasi racist cohort Martin
Bernal who authored the book titled, "Black Athena: The Afroasiatic Roots
of Classical Civilization (The Fabrication of Ancient Greece 1785-1985")
was equally toxic. They essentially used Lefkowitz to counter her cross campus
colleague at Wellesley College Dr. Tony Martin (he somehow became the public
face of all that was wrong with Afrocentricity) and would come under tremendous
scrutiny and pressure from some powerful Jews and Jewish organizations who
accused Martin of anti-Semitism. Martin was initially being condemned by Jewish
intellectuals and Jewish activist for using inside his classroom as part of the
supplementary readings the well controversial book published by the Nation
of Islam Research Department titled, "The Secret Relationship Between
Blacks and Jews".
Dr. Martin was perhaps one of the premier scholars on
the life and times of the black nationalist and Pan-Africanist leader
Marcus Garvey, thus, authoring the definitive books titled, "Race
First: the Ideological and Organizational Struggles of Marcus Garvey and the
Universal Negro Improvement Association" and Garvey, Black Arts and the
Harlem Renaissance, and the classic study of the Garvey Movement”. His
allege coziness with Minister Louis Farrakhan (leader of the Nation of Islam) created a
controversial storm throughout American academia in the
1990s and it led to a rift between African Americans and Jews which
propelled historical suspiciousness and a battle was ensued between Jews
and African centered scholars (this also included Nation of Islam). Dr.
Leonard Jeffries, a New York based professor had given a prior
speech at Empire State Black Arts and Cultural Festival in Albany,
New York in 1991 and this sort of became the fuel that lit the fire between
Afrocentrist and Jews. But it would eventually fester with a speech that
Farrakhan's national spokesman Dr. Khallid Abdul Muhammad on November 29, 1993
delivered on the campus of Kean College in Union, New Jersey that spewed
even more controversy and charges of anti-Semitism were being waged by
the mass media against the Nation of Islam and African Centered
scholars bringing into question their credibility and of course many in the
black community rejected some of these accusations (this further placed a
strain on black/Jewish relations). Dr. Martin would publish his own book
titled, "Jewish Onslaught:
Despatches
from the Wellesley
Battlefront," chronicling his side of
the story and refuting the accusations of
anti-Semitism.
It would be Dr. Mary Lefkowitz who single
handedly challenged the historical and racial findings ascribed by
Dr. Cheikh Anta Diop and Dr. John Henrik Clarke and other African centered
scholars in particular, putting forth the intellectual ideas that Egypt was
black and Nubian, moreover, Lefkowitz maintain that this was a mere
historical exaggeration and that the ancient Egyptians were Caucasoid and
at best Semitic Mediterranean (whatever the hell that
meant). Dr. Lefkowitz even accused the Africancentered scholars
of putting forth shoddy research that was myth based and mediocrity at best and
below true scholarly research required on the academic level relative to
acceptability (that could stand up to peer review). I am of the opinion,
that Black scholarship has often been more empirical and scientific
than white scholars relative to meeting the research standards of being
rigorously investigative in which the outcomes can be counted and
measured in the realm of presenting objective data.
Yet, African American scholars who are well
published and constantly receive respectable peer reviews for their scholarship
by internal and external experts of their discipline often find no
reprieve in the world of white academia, thus, they are constantly shun
(often denied) when it comes to tenure and upper mobility, because of the
systemic practices of racism that takes place on predominately white
colleges and university campuses (Derrick Bell "Faces at
the Bottom of the Well). We may have all the academic qualifications and
an outstanding credentials and it has been proven that in the case of
black intellectual, it often does not matter because the historical stereotypes
are rooted in the belief that blacks are inferior (Charles Murray
"Bell Curve" and Shockley and Jensen)—there are no exceptions to this
rule and highly trained black professors are often placed on a slower
track towards tenure than their white counterparts (Cornel West; "Race
Matters").
The solution to this argument is rooted in an old
paradigm in which Booker T. Washington, Marcus Garvey, Bishop McNeil Turner,
Richard Allen, Elijah Muhammad, Noble Drew Ali, etc.,
addressed over one hundred (100) years ago (get up and do
something for yourselves). We have the responsibility to build our own
institutions and not look to be a modern slave on white folk academic campuses;
the said leaders created a template and we do not have to reinvent the
wheel. I think black scholars’ dissatisfaction should force our black
intellectuals to revisit the solutions offered by their black predecessors and
begin to build black institutions in order to move the next generation of
African people to another level.
Lastly, Lefkowitz book was an all out assault on all
of the legitimate research that African Centered and black scholars had
done relative to this time period; now, we know that much of this Western
academic propaganda was dealt with by Marimba Ani her book titled,
"Yurugu: An African-Centered Critique of European Cultural Thought and
Behavior". Our revolutionary scholars have left little doubt and little
room to argue that Greece
and Rome are
surely indebted to ancient Kemet when it comes to knowledge and
enlightenment and, perhaps one day all truth would be determined by objective
empiricism and not by intellectually racism. I know some of our revolutionary
scholars such as Ashra Kwesi (Egyptologist, historian, archaeologist,
etc.) and in particular, Anthony Browder has written about some of these
things in his book titled, "Nile Valley Contributions To
Civilization" but African centered scholars and historians thoughts
and research were refreshing and it sort of evoked new life to old
concepts that we have been debating with Western Scholars for
a very long time and no doubt we are standing on the shoulders
of some heavy weights such as Diop, Sertima, Wilson,
Hilliard, Jochannan, Clarke, J.A. Rogers, etc.
